Attorneys with The Animal Law Center in Wheatridge, Colorado are disappointed with the recent decisions taken by the city councils of Denver and Aurora with regard to their breed bans. In both cities last night, the councils voted to retain breed bans without making reasonable accommodations for citizens who utilize restricted breeds as service dogs.
Attorneys with The Animal Law Center of Wheat Ridge, Colorado today filed a civil lawsuit in Denver District Court on behalf of their client, Denver resident Scott Evans. On October 28, 2009, Evans and his dog Asha suffered a severe electrical shock while walking through a parking lot located in the vicinity of 4650 West 38th Avenue in Denver. As a result of coming into contact with approximately 277 volts of electricity flowing to the lot surface, Asha died of her injuries in transit to a nearby veterinarian’s clinic. Evans was also shocked while trying to rescue his dog and was traumatized watching Asha die an agonizing death.
Attorneys with The Animal Law Center in Wheatridge, Colorado are pleased to announce that the City of Denver is reconsidering two portions of its 20-year-old ban on pit bulls. In a meeting of City’s Health, Safety, Education and Services Committee on Tuesday, August 24, 2010, City Attorney David Broadwell introduced revisions to the ban that would allow residents to own pit bulls designated as service dogs.
Attorneys with The Animal Law Center of Wheatridge, Colorado today filed a civil lawsuit in Federal Court against the Commerce City Police Department on behalf of their clients Frank and Julia Agazio of Commerce City, Colorado. In their suit, the Agazio’s claim that Commerce City Police Officer Suzanne Barber used excessive and unnecessary force when she shot and killed the Agazio family dog during a routine call to their home.
